The Shuffle, The Deal and The Blinds

The dealer shuffles a standard 52-card deck.

(In casinos, the dealer never plays. A round disc -- known as a "dealer button" -- moves clockwise from player to player with each hand. The button marks which player would be the dealer if the deal were advanced from player to player as the game went along.

Most Texas Hold 'Em Poker games start with the two players to the left of the dealer (the button) putting a predetermined amount of money into the pot before any cards are dealt, ensuring that there's something to play for on every hand. This is called "posting the blinds." Most often, the "first blind" or "small blind" -- the player to the left of the dealer -- puts up half the minimum bet, and the "second blind" or "big blind" puts up the full minimum bet.

Each player is dealt two cards, face down. These are known as the "hole cards."

Betting Begins

A round of betting takes place, beginning with the player to the left of the two who posted the blinds. Players can call, raise, or fold when it's their turn to bet.

The Flop

After the first betting round, the dealer discards the top card of the deck. This is called burning the card and is done to ensure that no one accidentally saw the top card, and to help prevent cheating.

The dealer then flips the next three cards face up on the table. These cards are called the "flop."

NOTE: Eventually, a total of five community cards will be placed face up on the table. Players can use any combination of the community cards and their own two hole cards to form the best possible five-card Poker hand.

After the flop, another round of betting takes place, beginning with the player to the left of the dealer (the button). During this and all future rounds of betting, players can check, call, raise, or fold when it's their turn to bet.

Fourth Street

The dealer burns another card and plays one more face up onto the table. This, the fourth community card, is called the "turn" or "Fourth Street."

The player to the left of the dealer (the button) begins the third round of betting.

Fifth Street

The dealer burns another card before placing the final face-up card on the table. This card is called the "river" or "Fifth Street."

Final Betting and The Winner

Players can now use any combination of seven cards -- the five community cards and the two hole cards known only to them -- to form the best possible five-card Poker hand.

The fourth and final round of betting starts with the player to the left of the dealer (the button).

After the final betting round, all players who remain in the game reveal their hands. The player who made the initial bet or the player who made the last raise shows their hand first.

The player with the best hand wins.

General House Rules

Showing Your Hand.

The person called MUST show their winning hand (1 or Both of their Hole Cards.)  The remaining players MUST show their hands if they have beaten the called player - otherwise they do not have to show hands.

Premature Mucking.

If the player(s) shows only 1 card and mucks the other, then that player(s) has 6 cards to make their 5 card hand.  Here, the cards play themselves.  In the event of a tie and a player mucked his second card, he can not retrieve it.  For example, both players have 2 pairs, say 7's and 10's.  The board has a 10, 10, 7, 2 and 3, player 1 has a Jack Seven, and player 2 had a Queen seven, but he mucked the Queen when he revealed his seven.  Player 1 would win the hand.

Coloring Up the Chips.

In the coloring up process, any player with an odd chip will be drawing a card to determine if they get the extra chip.  For example, in coloring up the red chips, 2 players have a 25.00 chip.  Those 2 players will draw a card from the deck.  The player with the highest card drawn will get (1) $50.00 chip and both players will lose their red chip.  This only occurs with the first color up process.  All subsequent color ups will require the players to match evenly, using any combination of chips to remove the color.

NO Re-Buys or Add-ons.

There will be NO re-buys or Add-Ons.  Once you are out, you can be a table dealer, but you can not get back in the game.

Second Game Rules

Blind Schedule

The blind schedule is the same as the main tournament, except it runs at 15 Minute increments.  Likewise, there will be 4 blinds before a 10 minute break.

Late Players.

As players finish in the first tournament, they are allowed to join the second game until the first break ends. At that point, since no one further is permitted to enter the second tournament, the payouts can be calculated.

Re-buys and Add-ons.

Since new players can be added from the first tournament, then players getting knocked out of the second tournament can re-buy - until the first break ends.

Second Game Payouts

Once the first break ends in this tournament the payouts can be calculated. Using the monies paid in (new players and re-buys) will determine the player count. From that, the standard BOHICA Payout chart will be used to determine the number of places paid.
